On February 23rd Timothée Chalamet won best actor at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, giving him one more prize for this awards season. After winning the top award at the SAG for his latest movie A Complete Unknown, it’s clear that Chalamet is quickly rising to the top and taking over the movie industry.
“I can’t downplay the significance of this award, because it means the most to me,” Chalamet told the crowd in Los Angeles. “I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness.” He said it himself. Timothée Chalamet wants to be one of the greats. At an awards show, you rarely ever hear a celebrity telling the crowd they want to go down in history, but Chalamet said it very directly and openly.
Since A Complete Unknown was released in theaters, Chalamet has been all over the world doing different interviews, shows, and podcasts, and it’s obvious that he is extremely passionate about his job and taking over Hollywood. He has also been changing how he uses social media. The day before Christmas (the day before A Complete Unknown was released,) Chalamet went live on Instagram. The stream began with him sitting alone in a warehouse, but eventually he was smashing a guitar and displaying misspelled messages on the screen. Interesting? Very.
A few weeks later, Chalamet hosted SNL for the third time, and marked the first time someone has hosted and been the musical guest. Playing Bob Dylan songs, he awed the audience with just how much he has channeled this role into his everyday life and emulates Bob Dylan.
Timothée Chalamet’s win at the SAG awards means he will most likely also be up on the Oscars’ stage accepting groundbreaking awards. Both Dune: Part II and A Complete Unknown have been nominated for many Oscars, and with all his efforts to gain the public attention and his rightful spot among “the greats,” Timothée Chalamet is predicted to win many Oscars, and to continue taking over the film industry as we know it.
