Twisters (2024) has taken the box office by storm, making $81.2 million in its opening weekend. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, this film is a stand-alone sequel to the 1996 “Twisters.” While I have never gotten the chance to watch the original, if it is anywhere as good as the sequel, I will definitely be adding it to my watchlist.
The story follows a group of storm chasers, or “tornado wranglers,” who are played by Daisy Edgar-Jones, Anthony Ramos, and the beloved Glen Powell. If you ever need a reason to not live in Oklahoma, watch this movie. These tornadoes are no joke. The CGI and special effects are insanely realistic and perfectly capture both the chaos and beauty of these natural disasters.
Now, as for my personal experience with the movie, my friends and I were lucky enough to watch it from D-BOX seats. The D-BOX seats were definitely worth the extra $5 or so because it completely immerses you into the move, shaking your chair as a tornado approaches, or tilting it side to side as the chasers are taking sharp turns in a truck.
Additionally, one of my personal favorite parts of the movie was its soundtrack. As a country music fan, I was very excited to see that the Twisters album features multiple popular country artists such as Bailey Zimmerman, Megan Moroney, Lainey Wilson, Tyler Childers, and many more. I have already added a few of these songs to my playlist including, “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma” by Luke Combs.
And as a final warning: watching “Twisters” may cause an uncontrollable urge to ignore your better judgment and chase storms, but it is totally worth it.
