Former President Donald J. Trump said in an interview broadcast on September 22, 2024 that he does not think he will run again in 2028 if he loses the impending 2024 presidential election.
“No, I don’t,” Mr. Trump told a reporter from Sinclair Broadcast Group, “I think that that will be, that will be it. I don’t see that at all. I think that hopefully we’re going to be successful.”
Note, this is not the first time Trump has made such a comment. In 2020, he stated that if he lost to President Biden, “You’ll never see me again.” Yet, here we are – Trump is running for the presidency once more.
The question of whether Trump will try again in four years if he loses is a step ahead of a more important matter: will he accept loss this year to begin with.
When Trump lost the election in 2020, he refused to concede and led a shocking attempt to overturn the result that ended with his supporters storming the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Even to this day, he has either refused to commit to accepting the results of the 2020 election or has sown doubt about them to his supporters.
All we can do now is wait and see. Will Trump be victorious once more or will he again refuse to accept loss?
