On Saturday, January 31st, while most of us were at the winter dance, others around the world were watching UFC 325. The event took place in Sydney, Australia and was headlined by Volkanovski vs Lopes, the featherweight title fight. Alexander Volkanovski is the featherweight champion from Australia who was challenged for a rematch by Diego Lopes. In their first fight during UFC 314 last year, Volkanovski beat Lopes for the vacated belt by unanimous decision. Volk beat Lopes again on Saturday by unanimous decision to defend the belt in his home country. Teddy Young (27’) says, “I love Volk as a champion, he’s a great fighter and has a great personality. I also really like his walkout song and his TV show Cooking With Volk.”

The co-main event, which had a matchup between Benoit Saint-Denis, ranked 8th in the UFC and Dan Hooker, ranked 6 in the UFC. The fight however, ended with Saint Denis winning by TKO in round 2. This changed Saint Denis’ record to 17-3 and Hooker’s to 24-14. This upset was very exciting to hear about and the highlights were nothing short of riveting.
